From our very inception, we focused on converting the image of jute, from a traditional packaging material to a high-end fashion product, attempting to make an ethnic statement in the field of contemporary couture.

We experimented with this biodegradable tropical plant, with lustrous golden fiber and high tensile strength, to arrive at strong and innovative designs that we can boast of today. Our products come in a wide range of dyed colors. 

Last year, we exported to the United States, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Sweden, Denmark, and Australia among other countries. With increased production capacities, the firm has set itself an export target of 1.00 million bags this year.

The firm has a simple philosophy that guides its activities: respect for nature and mankind. This finds expression in everything the firm does: from the purchase of raw materials to the packing of the finished products. Each stage is carefully monitored to ensure that we remain ‘eco-friendly’.

The firm also provides twin sources of income to over 500 local families by allowing women to take basic jobs home on a contractual basis. We also own and operate several satellite-manufacturing units.

Facilities & Location 

Located on the outskirts of Calcutta, near airport, the sankh factory is well supported with having in-house cutting, printing and stitching machines, a veritable 'one-stop-shop' for the manufacture of jute bags. We have recently also opened our latest offset printing unit and fabrication unit in New Delhi to give the better and fast service to our valued customers.

Conscious of its commitment to the environment, every stage in the production process remains environment friendly. The work force is skilled and trained to ensure that each product with the Sankh label meets the most exacting standards. Our team of dedicated and highly motivated workers provides the necessary edge in a competitive market. We employ only skilled artisans and craftsmen, and have a strong policy against child labor. In fact, Sankh is known not just for the quality of product as also for the warmth it extends to any relationship: be it towards its work force, suppliers or buyers.

Reason we opened one more jute bag printing unit to New Delhi 

On demand of our several overseas customers, we have shifted our jute bag unit from Kolkata to New Delhi. Although Kolkata is known for jute all over the world, due to maximum jute mills in & around the city. But at the same time due to its geographical location the weather here is not favorable for good quality of printing impression.  Very soon we are also going to start our parallel production unit especially for designer jute bags in New Delhi and handling of shipment directly from New Delhi or Mumbai port on demand. We are the only firm having our set-up in New Delhi for such types of bags.

What’s New? 

Great Graphics: These are designer printing bags up to 15 color prints mainly done for museums around the world. Sankh is the only company that prints up to 15 colors on a jute bag. We have this new printing technique facility available at our New Delhi unit.

Wine Bags: We manufacture single bottle, double bottle & 6 bottle wine bags. These bags are manufactured for renowned wineries around the world

Draw string Bags: Used for packing coffee beans & small gift items.

Promotional Bags: These function as packets, giveaways with products. The perfect “Walking billboard”. Advertising exposure that will last for years. “Create-a-gab” - Let your imagination run wild, custom designing your bag from any combination of these features: Any size, any shape, with pockets, zippers, Velcro closures, multiple colors, etc. And these bags are environmentally friendly!

• A Wide range of dyed colors in sophisticated tones, natural hues and bright sunny colors all of which may be seen in our Color & Weave section.
• The fabric for most bags is polythene laminated for water resistance. However our ribbed, fantasia and cosmetic bags are not.
• Colors vary in every dye lot and color matching on this natural fabric is approximate.
• Although we aim to give the color fastness in all dyed bags, but we do not guarantee it.

• Prices for our Brand promotional bag section include printing up to two colors both sides with 35% coverage.
• Every additional color is $ 0.05 per side.
• All artwork must be camera ready and to size.
• Artwork charges are free of cost.
• Screen plate charges for logo printing are $10.00 per color on orders below 2000 prices. There are no screen charges for orders above 2000 pieces.
• Screens shall be saved for a year.
• Screen charges for multi-color printing as in our designer printing bag section are $60.00 per design. There are no screen charges for order above 3000 pieces. The normal printing size should be 11x16 inch. For printing size above it can be also made at extra cost.

Customized quotes
If you wish to place an order for quantities over 10000 pieces, or customized products, please call us for full details, and allow us 72 hours to quote.
The lead-time for all of Jute and Textile orders is 10 days. Normally, for an order of 500-1,000 bags we require 7 days as production time. For an order of 2,000-10,000 bags, we require 15-30 days as production time. 

The articles are bulk packed in a 7 ply corrugated carton of size 28 x 18 x 15 inches or 20x20x18 inch size depending upon the size of bag with a poly sheet covering inside to protect against damages due to moisture.

Our minimum order value is US$ 1,000.

We reserve the right to ship 5% over or under the quantity ordered.


Pre-production samples/sampling order
1) Minimum sample cost is $60.00 (upto 5 different bags in one color print) inclusive all screen and artwork costs, excluding courier cost. For any additional logo color, screen plate charges $10.00 per color is extra.  Addition printed samples are available at $12.00 per color per bag, excluding courier cost. Courier cost can be saved if customer wants to use his or her own UPS or FedEx account. We have tie-up with Ups and FedEx both. The screen plate charge is reimbursed, when the order is confirmed for minimum 2000 bags.

2) Designer printed bag/museum bag samples are available at $60.00 per design/ bag. This sample cost is reimbursed when the order for minimum 3000 bags would be confirmed. Maximum printing area for such multi color-printing bag is 11x16 inch.

·         Special developments are undertaken and estimates are provided in advance based on the drawings / specifications supplied by our clients.

·         We take approximately 7 to 10 days from the date of receipt of total specification / confirmed design and accessories (if sent by client) for sample dispatch.

·         UPS/FEDEX normally deliver the sample in 4-5 days.

·         The time required for productions depends on the quantity of the orders and production bookings at that point of time. The production time is calculated from the date of receipt of confirmation on the approval sample and all other information relating to production.

·         As per our Company Policy we can accept payment in US Dollars and Euro.

·         All prices are FOB Calcutta. C&F and CIF prices can be quoted upon client’s request.

·         Trial orders below this billing amount may be negotiated on special terms.

·         Our payment terms are 100% irrevocable letter of credit or 50% advance against our Performa invoice and balance COD/DP at sight basis or 35% advance and balance by wire transfer at the time of shipment.

·         For LCL shipment by sea, we provide hessian (Jute) packing on master cartons. Special packaging as per customer requirements can be provided at extra costs as applicable.

·         Our delivery conditions are FOB Calcutta port. In some special cases at extra cost we can make FOB Delhi ICD via Mumbai Port. Shipment from Delhi goes via Mumbai port and its transit time for any major port in USA or Europe is comparatively less than the transit time from Kolkata port. Delhi ICD provides vessels on weekly basis connecting through all major ports via Mumbai.

·         Transit time from Delhi to Mumbai port is 5-6 days and then for USA is 25 to 30 days, for Europe it is 20-25 days from the date of sailing of the vessel from Mumbai port.
 

Additional information for Jute Bags: Dimensions: All sizes of bags are outside and may vary up to 0.5inch. Colors: Fabrics are dyed with fast colors. We also do Azo-Free color dying. Colors shade may vary slightly due to nature of Jute Fabric. But uniformity of shades for every order is ensured. Print colors can be matched as per the Pantone shade card specifications. A color variation of 5% in the matching of shades is a possibility. For screen-printing logos on the bags we require a full size artwork of the design to be printed. Handles of various make and designs are available. Select any of our 15 handles styles (See illustration).
